Grant to Enhance Cultural Learning and Community Engagement in Alberta (Canada)
GrantID: 74368
Grant Funding Amount Low: $500
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: $30,000
Summary
This program offers funding to local community organizations looking to launch new cultural programming or public art projects that breathe life into neighborhoods. Available in one Canadian city, it's aimed at groups that want to spark creativity and build community through arts initiatives that enrich public engagement and cultural learning.
Eligible applicants include registered nonprofits, charities, community organizations, and Business Improvement Areas. These groups must be operating locally, serving the residents of their city. The grant encourages inclusive programming and supports partners that may submit multiple applications over different cycles—though each approved initiative must be distinct.
Two tiers of support are offered:
A smaller tier, covering up to the full cost of modest project ideas—up to $5,000.
A larger tier, offering up to $30,000, covering half the project budget for more ambitious or larger-scale initiatives.
Examples of past projects include pop-up festivals, public art installations, workshops, cultural performances, interactive exhibitions, public murals, and film screenings—creative happenings that engage and celebrate diversity across the city.
Applications are welcomed in two annual rounds, each aligned with specific project timelines—one for mid-year initiatives, and another for late-year to early-next-year programming. This setup allows organizations to align proposals with their seasonal plans and community rhythms.
The grant aims to encourage innovative, accessible cultural experiences. It not only offers financial support, but also validates creative community-driven work—amplifying diverse voices and revitalizing public spaces through art.
