Alberta's Indigenous communities face significant disparities in business ownership and economic opportunities, with Indigenous peoples representing only 3.5% of business owners in the province. To address this, Alberta's Indigenous Entrepreneurship initiatives will be eligible for funding if they can demonstrate a clear understanding of the historical and systemic barriers faced by Indigenous entrepreneurs. Applications will be evaluated based on their ability to provide mentorship programs, business incubators, and access to capital that address these barriers. Who Should Apply in Alberta? With a growing demand for Indigenous entrepreneurship support, successful applicants will need to demonstrate a capacity to scale their programs. Alberta's Indigenous Entrepreneurship Ecosystem is being transformed through investments in mentorship programs and business incubators. These initiatives will provide critical support to Indigenous entrepreneurs and help address the historical disparities in business ownership.
